The IKEA question
Brighton finally has its own IKEA — the Churchill Square City store, opened August 2026, stocking a few thousand items for walk-out purchase. For click-and-collect hauls or anything only the full-size Croydon warehouse carries (a ~44-mile run), we quote the honest hours.

How much is one item with a man and van in Brighton?
From £22 an hour for the medium van and driver — a local single-item run is usually the shortest booking we do. Heavy pieces or upstairs deliveries add a second pair of hands at £33, and the written quote settles it before you commit.
Can you collect something I bought on Facebook Marketplace or eBay?
Constantly — it's the most common job on the board. You agree the collection window with the seller, we handle the lifting, wrapping and driving between the two doors. Works the seller's way round too, if you've sold something and need it delivered.
Do you collect from IKEA Brighton or IKEA Croydon?
Both, honestly costed. The new Churchill Square City store covers a lot — but it's a small-format shop, so bigger orders often mean click-and-collect hauls or a run to the full-size Croydon store, roughly 44 miles each way. Either way it's the real hours on the quote, not a guessed flat fee.
Can you take my old sofa to the tip?
No — and Brighton makes the why unusually clear: carrying someone else's waste legally needs a licensed waste carrier, and the city's own recycling sites ban commercial and box vans outright. Use a retailer take-back scheme when buying new, or the council routes for the old piece.
Do you deliver antiques from the Lanes and North Laine?
Gladly — fragile, awkward and irreplaceable is exactly when a careful local van beats a courier network. Tell us the shop and the piece, and we'll bring the blankets the Victorians would have wanted.
