Man with a Van Hove — actually. Home turf, same rates.

One city, two names, zero travel surcharge. Hove's Regency squares, poet-named terraces and pedestrianised shopping streets are as much our patch as the pier end — and the flats stacked inside those grand old buildings are half the reason we carry blankets.

Moving in Hove, without the drama.

What the west of the city asks of a moving day:

  • Regency conversions in Brunswick and Palmeira — original staircases, upper floors, lifts the exception not the rule
  • Permit-zone streets (Central Hove is Zone N) — loading planned, not chanced
  • Poets' Corner terraces near the station — classic small-flat, quick-hop territory
  • George Street's pedestrianised stretch — timed access for shop and flat moves
  • Marketplace and single-item pickups across BN3 — see single item delivery
  • Full houses out west in Hangleton and Portslade — driveways at last

No 'we also cover Hove' small print here — Brighton and Hove are one city, and the van treats both halves identically.

Squares, zones and stairs — the Hove briefing.

The three facts that shape a Hove move:

1

The conversions

Brunswick Square's 1820s terraces and Palmeira's grand townhouses were carved into flats generations ago — narrow original stairs and top-floor bedrooms are standard. Crew size is chosen for the building.

2

Zone N & friends

Hove's streets sit in the city's lettered parking zones — Central Hove is Zone N — with virtual permits and bay rules that vary. Name the street and the loading plan goes in the quote.

3

The easy west

Beyond Sackville Road, Aldrington, Hangleton and Portslade trade stucco for semis and driveways — quicker loads, bigger vans, same rates.

Hove move FAQ

Asked from basement flats and top-floor conversions along the squares.

Is Hove extra, being outside Brighton?

It isn't outside — Brighton and Hove have been one city since the merger, and we price it that way: the same £22–£55 hourly table, no travel line, no surcharge. Home turf is home turf.

Can the van get near my flat on Brunswick or Palmeira Square?

With planning, yes — the squares sit in permit-controlled zones, so we work out the legal loading spot before the day rather than feeding a meter and hoping. Tell us the address and we'll sort the rest.

My flat's at the top of a Regency conversion — problem?

It's the classic Hove job: original staircases, tight turns, no lift. It costs honest hours and sometimes a second pair of hands, both of which appear in the written quote — never as a moving-day surprise.

Do you cover Poets' Corner, Aldrington, Hangleton and Portslade?

All of them — the poet streets by the station, Aldrington's avenues, Hangleton, West Blatchington and Portslade out west. If it's in BN3 or BN41, it's a local job.

Can you do a Marketplace pickup in Hove?

Constantly — single items across Hove are everyday work, from George Street's second-hand shops to a sofa in a Cliftonville flat. From £22 an hour, usually the shortest booking on the card.
